MAKING EASTER
ACCESSIBLE TO MORE
There’s nothing like the joy of discovering a well hidden egg, but traditional Easter hunting isn’t accessible to everyone.
Together with FutureLabs and Alt/Shift, Cadbury set out to create a more inclusive Easter hunt for vision-impaired children. First of its kind in Australia, the hunt used interactive technology that allowed eggs to be discovered with sound, not sight.
For many participants, this was their first time experiencing the joy of Easter hunting. Friends and family were overwhelmed to see the joy of the participants, finally able to experience the magic of Easter together.
For the second year running, Cadbury is making Easter hunting accessible to vision-impaired Australians.
Cadbury has helped Aussies celebrate Easter for over 100 years. However, there’s a community that hasn’t been able to experience the joy of Easter hunting – until last year.
Through a long-standing partnership with The Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal, Cadbury was inspired to bring this much-loved Easter tradition to families that have been unable to experience Easter hunting before.
Cadbury’s close collaboration with the team at Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) and creative technology studio, FutureLab resulted in the world-first Accessible Easter Egg Hunt in 2023 – enabling those with vision impairment to immerse themselves in the hunt for the very first time.
The sound-emitting egg is truly meaningful to the vision impaired community, with a lucky few being among the first to experience the new technology in action.
With the success of the Accessible Egg Hunt, Cadbury look forward to reaching more vision-impaired Australians in 2024 and beyond, so even more families can experience the magic of Easter.
