Palm Oil
How will I know my Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate block doesn’t contain palm oil?
We have re-designed and updated the packaging of our chocolate blocks (see below) to show that the cocoa solids are 26% in all of our blocks.
There remain some of our chocolate blocks – those containing inclusions, caramels, creams or wafers such as Caramello, Black Forest, Rocky Road and Snack – where we are currently unable to make the product without the inclusion of a small quantity of palm oil. In these instances we pay a premium for the limited amount of palm oil we purchase to support the production of sustainable palm oil.
What about palm oil in other Cadbury blocks?
The chocolate within our entire Cadbury Dairy Milk block chocolate range, including those with inclusions, caramels, creams and/or wafers, includes 26% cocoa butter and does not include palm oil.

You say you’re taking palm oil out of Cadbury Dairy Milk milk chocolate, what are you putting back in its place?
We have replaced the palm oil with cocoa butter.
Block weights:
What are the weights of your chocolate blocks?
In 2009, we changed the weights of our blocks to the following sizes:
-The 150g block has been re-sized to 100g/110g for ‘on the go’ consumption.
The 250g block has been re-sized to 190g/220g for family sharing.
The 400g block has also been re-sized to 350g for social sharing.
Why did you reduce the weight of your blocks?
We reduced our block sizes and the wholesale price to help make our chocolate more affordable due to the doubling of raw ingredient prices for cocoa and sugar in the last three years.
When you re-sized the blocks did you keep the price the same?
No, at the same time that we reduced the weight we also reduced the amount we charge retailers for our block chocolate range.
It is important to note that as a manufacturer, by law, Cadbury does not set the retail price you pay in store. This is done by the retailer where you purchase the product. In the overwhelming majority of cases, retailers reduced the full recommended retail price accordingly.
